Andrew Gomez Crowned King of Pasadena City College Homecoming Royal Court

Originally denied participation in the Royal Court, Andrew Gomez, a 23 year old ftm transgender was elected by the students at Pasadena City College as the 2007/2008 Homecoming King. Andrew Gomez is an English major with an emphasis in creative writing. Although Andrew has been active on campus including being a long time member of the Pasadena City College Lancer Marching Band and a member of the Tournament of Roses Honor Band. He has also served as a Cross Cultural Intern and as Vice Chair of the Interclub Council and is currently President of the United Rainbow Alliance. Andrew became promenant on campus after he spoke before a joint meeting of the Associated Students and the Board of Trustees regarding personal experiences of harassment while using the restrooms on campus. Andrew was instrumental in the recent Associated Student of Pasadena City College resolution in favor of support of the creation of safe gender neutral restrooms for those who do not conform to societal gender norms and for disabled students with oposite gender cargivers and for those students who are on campus with oposite gender children.
